After hitting a setback on my work with the jump pad, I decided to work on another asset for the UE4 marketplace in the interim; a massive update to my debris volume.
A spherical volume that randomly generates custom debris within it.
Very useful in space games to dynamically generate asteroids or planets. They can be spawned on the outer bounds of the level for ambiance, or inside the level as obstacles.
It has many custom parameters, such as random ranges for the scale and rotation, the mesh and material used, the number of debris to spawn, etc. You can even freely decide a number of instances to be chosen at random, each with their own parameters.
As you can see in the picture above, by default it has two boundaries; an interior boundary which the debris will spawn outside of, and an exterior boundary which they will not spawn beyond. The distance between the two can be adjusted freely. You can change it to have only one boundary, which the debris will spawn freely within.
It also has separate volumes that can be used to prevent any debris from spawning within them. Useful for keeping debris away from platforms, interiors and such.
The code itself is practically done at this point. I just need to create some basic art for the debris to include with it, and it should be ready for the marketplace.
