I’ve finished creating the first defense category level. Some things still need improvement; such as some of the effects that play when an enemy target is alerted or fires back.
The level itself is focused on fairly basic training to avoid enemy fire and use cover. As the first one of this type, I deliberately made it very simple.
I did also create some new mechanics for it, such as the ability for pickups/ammunition to be spawned dynamically, just like targets. You can see them occasionally popping up on the ground in that video.
I also created new win conditions, such as destroying a certain number of targets. The new ammo spawning goes along well with this, since you don’t have to worry about being permanently out of ammo and being incapable of winning the level.
