No, stop that. It’s not fun either.
I wasn’t able to make very much progress on my game today. I’ve never rigged a character before, and I wound up spending the entire day trying to set up the rigging on the character.
It was much harder than I thought it’d be. I feel like I’m an inch away from having brain leaking out of my ears, and all I managed to do was set up the skeleton.
The basic idea is simple enough, but everything just keeps going wrong because of my lack of experience.
A foot bone controlling the movement of the head, random bones getting ignored altogether, summoning Cthulhu through my monitor to devour my eyeballs. Stuff like that.
I tried importing it into Unreal Engine and trying out the ragdoll physics for funsies at one point, and it immediately exploded like a meth-addled epileptic chipmunk.
Hopefully I can get something workable tomorrow. I only need to make like two crazy-basic animations for the game, so I’m expecting this to be the biggest hurdle. Past experience says I’m wrong, though.
